THE CENTERS for Disease Control (CDC) in the US has suggested that people
with HIV, gonorrhoea or syphilis should no longer need to acquire a special
waiver to receive an entry visa to the US. The Public Health Service (PHS)
is now considering the request. The health service has been under pressure
to drop HIV from the list in part because the annual world AIDS conference
takes place this June in San Francisco.
