American parents who are worried that their children are watching something
they shouldn’t on the old TV in their bedroom will soon be able to set their
minds at rest. Connecticut-based Soundview Technologies is developing a
converter that allows a censoring V-chip to work with older TV sets. The set-top
box lets parents choose what their kids can view without having to invest in a
new TV that has V-chip technology built in. The device, which will sit between
the TV and the aerial, will black out programmes rated by parents as
unsuitable.
