The German telecoms company, Deutsche Telekom, is buying a 21.1 per cent
stake in Vocaltec as part of its plans to divert domestic phone calls onto the
Internet. The company is testing the idea this month on 1000 users, and plans to
extend the service to customers worldwide. Vocaltec specialises in Internet
phone software. Deutsche Telekom will also spend around £20 million on its
products.
