Campaigners for animal welfare have suffered a setback in their bid to sue
the US government on behalf of laboratory animals. An appeals court for the
District of Columbia last week overturned a ruling which would have forced all
federal labs to raise the minimum standards of welfare for primates in their
care. The Animal Legal Defense Fund says it is dismayed by the decision.
