An explosion at a fertiliser plant owned by French chemicals giant
TotalFinaElf has killed at least 29 people and injured more than 2000. The
blast, 5 kilometres from the centre of Toulouse, registered 3.4 on the Richter
scale. French authorities suspect it was an accident that happened when a tank
holding 200 to 300 tonnes of ammonium nitrate was heated by a nearby fire.
