COULD the recession be an opportunity for women to finally seize control? A new study suggests that in uncertain times people opt for leaders with feminine faces (see “How we choose leaders in times of war and peace”). Older male faces, on the other hand, are the people’s choice for wartime. Since our era is unprecedented, both in terms of the economy and dealing with climate change, perhaps feminists could turn this to their advantage. They should view the turmoil as their big chance to change society. Prepare for a new dawn of female leadership.
